The end of legend

  I think it is the right time to say good bye to the legend car, it was started since1992 but the end has come for the hummer brand,  GM decide to transfer a military car to a civilian car , GM bought the Hummer model in 1999, but sales fell sharply with the image degradation of the army and the decline in car use heavy fuel consumption. The car that represents the magnitude and excessive consumption of gasoline, the car that attracted celebrities and off-road enthusiasts, as well as the wrath of fans of the environment.

    The story start when General Motors has decided to cease production of Hummer H1 car, the Hummer H1 which is similar in its design Humvee jeep used by the U.S. military. Consistently and conservationists t protest against the pocket because of the high rates of consumption of fuel.
GM said that the rise in fuel prices has nothing to do decision to halt production of pocket because this issue is rarely of concern to people who buy Hummers. And will continue to produce military model of the jeep, Indiana plant in the U.S. as the company will continue manufacturing Alcklitin H2 and H3.

   By 2010 the Company decides officially to stop making hummer cars at all for GM’s U.S. car production Hummer after the collapse of takeover by the Chinese.  GM did not give reasons for the collapse of the attempt to sell the model to Tndzong Chinese Company, but the news said that Beijing has refused to approve the completion of the deal. The U.S. Company decided to sell Hummer production before two years ago with the disposal of a number of models produced by and request protection from creditors as a prelude to bankruptcy. The company expressed disappointment with the deal because the Chinese did not take place.

“John Smith said, vice president of the company: General Motors will work with staff in the production of Hummer dealers, and suppliers of plant to end the work in an organized and responsible“.
The company said it will continue to adhere to the owners of the car security around the world and provide service and spare parts.

  The life cycle of producing hummer car went away quietly and quickly, it was an attractive car to the gulf consumer which is a huge menacing vehicle. And fit the G.M image of always having the biggest and the best brands, which was special and unique car and had attracted most of the celebrity to have a hummer. But after the new model of range rover and BMW X5, those car start to attract the people whose is looking for a luxury car. And the time has come to stop producing hummer car; the hummer car will be always in our memory and continue as an American iconic symbol.

here my question is do you think G.M will think to reproduce hummer car in the near future? And what was the real reason to stop producing it? Do you see the civilian hummer brand was a victim of the recession rather than gasoline prices?

A poka – yoke yogurt

In our last class our professor discusses the concept of quality and attractive   packaging and how attractive packaging will distinguish a product from another product, which will lead to customer satisfaction. she show us how Heinz Ketchup design their small sample, which is really an attractive packaging and it was the first time to me to see that sample , these concept encourage met o see some of the leading product in Saudi Arabia marker and see dose the quality and  packaging really matter and Is it a part of operation manger work? I’m going to talk about al Marai Company; almarai is one of the biggest food exports in the Middle East, with consumers who see its product as a synonym for freshness and quality.

  Today, almarai is capable of serving top notch products to more than 43,500 outlets within the GCC on a daily basis.  , it is really a big operation to process it in one day, important to note that demand for food in Muslim countries increase during the holy month of RAMADAN. Demand for juice in KSA, for example rise by 20%. In addition, demand for food in KSA increasing during the Hajj season, which occurs 2 months after the end of Ramadan.

  One of the important reason for almarai to have these big operation is the high quality standard to produce their product  one of the method the company is implementing is a poka yoke technique which is to correct possible defect plus source inspection to prevent defects equal zero quality control, poka yoke help the operation manger and worker to process work right at the first time. These techniques can drive defects out of products and processes and substantially improve quality and reliability. It can be thought of as an extension of FMAE. It can also be use to fine tune improvements and process design form six- sigma. The use of simple poka-yoke ideas and method in product and process design can eliminate both human and mechanical errors.

The biggest day in your life

   Spaghetti marshmallow sky tower project was really an interesting activity and it clarifies what dose project management mean: it is the application of knowledge, skills, tools, and techniques to project activities to meet project requirements.  Since it is summer time and it is time for wedding I’m going to illustrate how to plan for a wedding as a project management, planning a wedding is really exciting but it can be stressful. it need to be organized and efficient by keeping track of the budget of the bride , meeting deadlines and making a specific detail what to do , making list will help to reduce some of the stress involved .

The wedding planners are just like all project managers; typically perform a list of activity in order to manage a project:

  • Identify the requirements
  • Address the various need and expectations of the stakeholders as the project is planned and carried out
  • Schedule
  • Quality
  • Budget
  • Resources
  • photographer
  • cake design
  • the theme party
  • guest list
  • invitation design

The wedding planner must ensure that everyone involve is in agreement and all the requirements will be establish after that that the scope can be defined. A scope statement must be developed in order for the project to stay on track and so that the project objectives will be met. Each wedding differs in the degree of emphasis it places on the various constrain; some will place more emphasis on the budget, other there concern will be in different path they are just looking for a unique party that no one ever before have do it .

However to manage the project the wedding planner must define the activities and develop a schedule and control this schedule , he  must be able to identify the resources and estimate the duration needed to complete individual activities with the estimated resources. A Wedding planner is under strict time constraints to organize the wedding; the schedule acts much like a day planner that is reasonable and efficient to follow. The planning will start from the bride, groom. And wedding party has with dress / tuxedo makers, florists and cake designer. Wedding planner must obtain accurate estimates form the service provider such as caterers and florists, wedding planner must be creative problem solvers and have project management skill so he or she will be able to hold the project from A TO Z.

 

Finally, what I really see that there is so much information out there on the internet about how you should plan something, I mean really we live in time where everything we want to know is at our fingertips. So here my question. Those who are planning to get marred do we still need to go to wedding planner or we can precede it and manage it by our self just by gathering information and resources form the internet?
